Hey,
I read the Star Ledger today, it talked about how teachers salaries in certain schools rose from $18, 000 to a good $50,000. And yes, $50,000 is the starting salary. Not to say I am all about the money because I am not, but this could be an added benefit. I believe that teacher should get paid a good amount of money just because we are such apart of students everyday lives in and out the classroom. We have such an effect on the students that it puts a heavy burden on us. It is definitly hard to be a teacher.

Very interesting. Does anyone know where we can get a list of starting salaries by district? I know teaching isn't about making tons of money but it can't hurt to get an idea of what the starting salaries are at different districts.
Yeah I hope we all can make somewhere in that ballpark. It would be nice becuase we are going through alot to just get the degrees nowadays. We won't be rich but somewhere near $50,000 grand sounds nice.
Trust me 50 grand(after taxes)combined with a mortgage does not go that far.
Teachers are seriously underpaid-but the benefits/summers off/pension make it worth it in the long run (oh and the joy teaching is rewarding as well)
Great to know there was an increase! I think teachers are definitely underpaid. Maybe when I graduate it'll be even higher! Wooo! Well there are so many benefits that come with teaching and I look foward to it all! =)
I know I am late with this but wow... That is great... I agree with Allison teachers are different not paid enough... but hey $50.00 is great... I'm looking forward to that... :-)
